Troubleshooting

  • No wire feed, weld output or gas flow when gun trigger is pulled. Fan does NOT operate.:
    • Make sure correct voltage is applied to the machine
    • Make certain that power switch is in the ON position
    • Make sure circuit breaker is reset
  • No wire feed when gun trigger is pulled. Fan runs, gas flows and machine has correct open circuit voltage (33V) – weld output.:
    • If the wire drive motor is running make sure that the correct drive rolls are installed in the machine
    • Check for clogged cable liner or contact tip
    • Check for proper size cable liner and contact tip
    • Check if the spool gun switch, located in the wire drive compartment, is set to the desired location
  • Low or no gas flow when gun trigger is pulled. Wire feed, weld output and fan operate normally.:
    • Check gas supply, flow regulator and gas hoses
    • Check gun connection to machine for obstruction or leaky machine
  • Arc is unstable – Poor starting.:
    • Check for correct input voltage to machine
    • Check for proper electrode polarity for process
    • Check gun tip for wear or damage and proper size – Replace
    • Check for proper gas and flow rate for process (For MIG only)
    • Check work cable for loose or faulty connections
    • Check gun for damage or breaks
