The TimeCutter SWX 5050 is a residential ride-on mower intended for cutting well-maintained lawns. It has a 50-inch mowing deck and is powered by a Kohler or Kawasaki engine. The mower is designed for homeowner use and not for commercial or agricultural applications.

Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Daily:

  • Check the cutting blades
  • Inspect the grass deflector for damage
  • Check and clean the front of the mower

After Each Use:

Every 25 Hours:

  • Check tire pressure
  • Check the oil level in the expansion tank
  • Check the belts for wear/cracks
  • Replace the air-cleaner foam element (more often in dusty, dirty conditions)
  • Service the air-cleaner paper element (more often in dusty, dirty conditions)
  • Change the engine oil (more often in dusty, dirty conditions)

Every 100 Hours:

  • Change the oil filter (more often in dusty, dirty conditions)
  • Check the spark plug(s)
  • Check the in-line fuel filter
  • Replace the air-cleaner paper element (more often in dusty, dirty conditions)

Troubleshooting

  • Engine overheats:
    • Reduce ground speed
    • Add oil to the crankcase
    • Remove obstruction from the cooling fins and air passages
    • Clean or replace the air cleaner element
    • Contact an Authorized Service Dealer if fuel system issue
  • Starter does not crank:
    • Move the blade-control switch to Disengaged
    • Charge the battery
    • Check the electrical connections
    • Replace the fuse
    • Contact an Authorized Service Dealer if relay or switch is damaged
  • Engine does not start, starts hard, or fails to keep running:
    • Fill the fuel tank
    • Move the choke lever to On
    • Clean or replace the air cleaner element
    • Install the spark plug wire(s)
    • Install a new, correctly gapped spark plug(s)
    • Replace the fuel filter
    • Contact an Authorized Service Dealer if fuel system issue
    • Drain the tank and replace the fuel with the proper type
    • Add oil to the crankcase
  • Machine does not drive:
    • Close the tow valves
    • Contact an Authorized Service Dealer if belts or transmission issue
